In a saga that could have been scripted by the X-Files, Dutch journalists have been investigating the 1992 crash in Amsterdam of an El Al cargo jet on its way from New York to Tel Aviv. Now the Dutch parliament is taking up their charges that the jet carried a secret Israeli military shipment of weapons-grade plutonium and the chemical ingredients for sarin. As many as 2,000 local residents and firemen reported health complaints they believe were caused by the crash. Meanwhile, the El Al cargo jet flights continue to stop over at Schiphol, raising fears that the commercial airport is a hub for secret weapons transfers.

AMSTERDAM — The Dutch Parliament is just this month holding public hearings to determine vital facts about an October, 1992 airplane accident.

The El Al Boeing 747 crashed into an apartment building in Bijlmeer, a suburb of Amsterdam, killing 39 people on the ground and four aboard the plane. It was carrying a secret cargo that included the main chemical ingredients for the nerve gas sarin as well as depleted uranium (DU). Dutch journalists allege it was carrying weapons-grade plutonium as well.

As many as 2,000 local residents and firemen have reported health complaints that they attribute to the crash. Many report loss of hair in the weeks after the crash, a sign of radiation disease.

The hearings at The Hague follow six years of investigation by Dutch journalists Vincent Dekker and Pierre Heyboer with the Volkskrant newspaper. The most important witnesses will not be present, however — officials of the Bush administration.

The flight stopped at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for refueling en route from New York to Tel Aviv. On October 4 last year, the sixth anniversary of the crash, Dutch transport ministry leaked to a newspaper an El Al bill of landing that shows the plane was carrying 190 liters of dimethy methylphosphonate (DMMP), four liters of isopropanol and an undisclosed amount of hydroflouric acid.

The chemicals were being sent to a super-secret weapons facility, called the Israel Institute of Biological Research (IIBR) south of Tel Aviv.

The Israeli government has claimed that the chemicals were intended for testing gas masks. But most military services use only a few grams for such purposes. The chemicals aboard the El Al jet were enough to produce 270 kilograms of sarin nerve gas — enough to annihilate the populations of many major cities.

The sarin components came from the Solkatronics chemical plant in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, then owned by Solvay, a chemical corporation based in Brussels, Belgium. International transport of such materials is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Treaty, signed by the U.S.

The El Al jet also carried at least 800 kilograms of depleted uranium (DU), used as ballast to balance the jet’s cargo. Burned DU releases uranium dust, which is known to cause lung cancer and other diseases.

Dutch authorities and El Al admit Flight LY1862 carried sarin components and DU, but refuse to provide details on six tons of military cargo. According to airport security personnel, the plane carried seven pallets of unspecified munitions.

Journalist Dekker claims, on the basis of leaks from Dutch officials, that the jet carried 27 kilograms of weapons-grade plutonium, enough to make seven warheads the size of the bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki in 1945.

In addition, soil samples taken at the crash site have turned up evidence suggesting that nuclear weapons technology was being illegally shipped from the U.S. to Israel.

The El Al jet landed and took off at Schiphol, one of the world’s busiest civilian airports, and flew across the most densely populated area of Europe. If 27 kilograms of plutonium had bounced into the burning wreckage, nearly all of Western Europe would have faced a nuclear emergency bigger than the Chernobyl accident.

Dutch and Israeli authorities apparently organized a cover-up. Most documents taken from El Al officials have disappeared. Police audio tapes and 42 videotapes taken by the firefighters were shredded. Firemen claimed that they turned in the cockpit voice recorder, or “black box,” but the government denies that it was ever found. Metal parts from the wreckage were recycled and melted down before a proper investigation could begin.

Residents report seeing helicopters, painted black and without markings, landing in their neighborhood. Others tell of a French-speaking team searching the area, and a group of men speaking English, some clad in white chemical protective suits, carrying a heavy box covered with a white cloth.

The Dutch authorities have denied that these events ever happened.

A photo taken just before the 1992 accident showed that the engine of the El Al jet was off-center, indicating it was previously damaged.

Airport workers in Cologne, Germany, where the jet refueled on its way to New York, say the plane collided with an airport ground vehicle there. In other words, the cargo jet loaded with U.S.-made sarin, uranium and plutonium could have crashed in New York but it turned out to be a time-bomb flying to the heart of Europe.

A long-awaited inquiry into the crash of an Israeli cargo jet into an Amsterdam apartment complex has opened in The Hague.

A Dutch parliamentary commission is trying to find out whether the crash six years ago was responsible for serious medical problems subsequently reported by rescue workers and local residents. It will also look into the cause of the disaster.

Israel admitted last year that the plane was carrying a chemical used to produce a deadly nerve gas. The inquiry will look at whether this or possibly radioactive substances contributed to the illnesses.

The commission, sitting in the upper house of parliament, plans to interview 75 people by the end of March.

Although the identity of those invited to appear has not been revealed, they are believed to include government ministers and deputies, rescue workers and representatives from Amsterdam-Schipol Airport.

Representatives of Israeli airline El Al may also be required to attend.

The El Al Boeing 747 crashed on 4 October 1992 shortly after take-off from Schipol Airport, killing 43 people, most of them on the ground.

Despite Israeli admissions, the full contents of the jet have never been formally established and the cargo manifest has never been revealed.

The plane’s black box was never found, prompting rumours that members of the Israeli secret service joined the rescue teams undercover to remove any sensitive material.

The appearance of men in white suits sifting through the wreckage added to the air of mystery surrounding the crash.

There have also been questions as to whether the rescue operation was correctly organised.

Israel said the cargo included 190 litres of dimethyl methylphosphonate, a chemical used for making sarin nerve gas, but which can also have innocent uses. The Israeli Government insists that the chemicals on board were non-toxic.

Doctors in the Biljmer suburb around the crash site said last year that up to 300 local residents could be suffering effects caused by the crash.

The parliamentary commission is made up of five deputies drawn from the ruling coalition and opposition parties.

The state-run Israeli airline, El Al, admitted on Thursday that its aircraft was carrying a chemical which is used in the production of the nerve gas sarin.

But a statement from the office of the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, quoted by Israel radio, said “the material was non-toxic and was to have been used to test filters that protect against chemical weapons”.

“Israeli Government and aviation authorities acknowledged that the cargo included 190 litres of the chemical dimethyl methylphosphonate, but they insist the material was non-toxic and that it had been clearly listed on the cargo manifest in accordance with international regulations,” the radio said.

On Wednesday the Dutch media, citing the plane’s freight documents, said the plane was carrying the chemical, which was being taken from a US factory to the Institute for Biological Research in Ness Ziona near Tel Aviv.

The Israeli authorities and the Dutch parliament have both ordered further investigations into the crash.

Questions raised

The local MEP for the area, Maartje Van Putten said she was outraged that the plane had been allowed to fly over the city carrying such a cargo.

A spokesman for El Al said they had informed the Dutch authorities at the outset of the investigation into the crash, which killed four crew members on the plane and 39 people in the apartment complex.

“Everything was done in accordance with international regulations,” he said.

The Dutch foreign ministry confirmed that it had already known about the presence of chemicals on the plane.

Since the crash, six years ago, many residents near the site of the crash have complained of mysterious illnesses.

A report published on Wednesday by the Dutch health ministry showed that local doctors believed up to 300 residents could be suffering from effects caused by the accident.

They range from depression and nervousness to fatigue and listlessness.

Cargo was heading to Israeli plant

Correspondents say that the activities of the Ness Ziona institute, which was to receive the chemical, are classified.

But it is believed to be a facility for the manufacturing of chemical and biological weapons and antidotes for such arms.

DMPP has other uses beyond nerve gas. It is also used in building materials as a flame retardant, and transporting sensitive chemicals by air is a well-tried practice.

BBC Europe correspondent David Eades says, however, that as a country which insists it does not manufacture weapons of mass destruction – and nerve gas is one of those – Israel is bound to come under suspicion as to the purpose of this cargo.

Israel has accused Syria, Iraq and Iran of developing chemical and biological weapons.

Sarin nerve gas was used in March 1995 by the Japanese cult, Aum Shinri Kyo, which released it in the Tokyo underground, killing six people and injuring more than 3,000.

The aircraft crashed while attempting an emergency landing following the separation of two engines from the right wing of the aircraft. The aircraft impacted an apartment building vertically, killing 39 residents and four El Al crew members.

On Sunday, October 4, 1992, an El Al Boeing airplane carrying unspecified military cargo crashed into an apartment building in the Bijlmer neighbourhood of Amsterdam. Forty-three people directly lost their lives. More people have died since then, and many are still suffering from unidentified diseases.

The Dutch government denies any connection between Bijlmer residents’ health ailments and the disaster, though hundreds of people inhaled poisonous smoke from the burning airplane and the apartment building. Some of the El Al plane’s cargo is still unknown, but three of the four components of sarin nerve gas were present at the crash site. The flats contained asbestos and lots of plastics.

What is known is that the destroyed Boeing aircraft carried 75 tons of kerosene and 10 tons of chemicals. From the plane itself, at least 152 kg of depleted uranium counterweights are missing. Most probably, they burnt into particles. Because of the very sensitive cargo aboard the doomed aircraft, official investigations into the causes and repercussions of the 1992 crash have been shrouded in secrecy, denial and misinformation.

Under a special bi-lateral agreement between the Netherlands and Israel dating from the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Israeli aircraft are granted special status at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. El Al, Israels national airline, uses the airport to refuel planes en route between Israel and the United States. Often on a daily basis, El Al’s cargo planes land and take off, carrying munitions, military technology and other, often classified, loads.

One of El Als privileges at Schiphol are to undergo “different procedures” than other cargo carriers. The cargo of Israeli planes are checked on paper only, though frequently the airway bills do not match the cargo. Another privilege is known as “flying the El Al way.” Because of fear of terrorist attacks, El Al aircraft may land and take off as they see fit. This may account for the pilot’s choice of a route above a residential area on the evening of the fatal October 1992 crash. Schiphol’s air traffic control tower apparently had a different landing track in mind, but the El Al pilot tried to return to the airport following a different landing track that exposed the plane’s tail to buffeting winds. The pilot may have thought he had been hit by a missile; the landing track he chose was known to provide the best coverage against terrorists.

The cause of the plane crash was not an attack but sheer negligence: bad maintenance of the bolts that hold the engines to the wings. The plane’s bolts had suffered so much metal fatigue that two engines broke off from one wing. The pilots lost oil pressure attempting to stabilize wing flaps on the affected side of the plane. And because the plane was unevenly loaded with heavy cargo, it rolled over.

The Bush administration could easily provide such a photo, but refuses to do so. The fact that it has not done so, is very puzzling and also, very suspicious. The Dutch government, like the US government, refused to conduct an investigation into the crash (until the revelation of further facts and public opinion forced their hand). As a chemical weapons precursor, DMMP is subject to tight export controls by the U.S. government, but Solkatronic confirmed that it had requested and received from the U.S. Department of Commerce the export licences necessary to ship to the IIBR the chemicals that went down with Flight 1862.

In a saga that could have been scripted by the X-Files, Dutch journalists have been investigating the 1992 crash in Amsterdam of an El Al cargo jet on its way from New York to Tel Aviv. Now the Dutch parliament is taking up their charges that the jet carried a secret Israeli military shipment of weapons-grade plutonium and the chemical ingredients for sarin. As many as 2,000 local residents and firemen reported health complaints they believe were caused by the crash. Meanwhile, the El Al cargo jet flights continue to stop over at Schiphol, raising fears that the commercial airport is a hub for secret weapons transfers. PNS associate editor Yoichi Clark Shimatsu is an investigative reporter and former editor of the English-language Japan Times Weekly in Tokyo.

AMSTERDAM — The Dutch Parliament is just this month holding public hearings to determine vital facts about an October, 1992 airplane accident.

The El Al Boeing 747 crashed into an apartment building in Bijlmeer, a suburb of Amsterdam, killing 39 people on the ground and four aboard the plane. It was carrying a secret cargo that included the main chemical ingredients for the nerve gas sarin as well as depleted uranium (DU). Dutch journalists allege it was carrying weapons-grade plutonium as well. As many as 2,000 local residents and firemen have reported health complaints that they attribute to the crash. Many report loss of hair in the weeks after the crash, a sign of radiation disease. The hearings at The Hague follow six years of investigation by Dutch journalists Vincent Dekker and Pierre Heyboer with the Volkskrant newspaper. The most important witnesses will not be present, however — officials of the Bush administration.

The flight stopped at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for refueling en route from New York to Tel Aviv. On October 4 last year, the sixth anniversary of the crash, Dutch transport ministry leaked to a newspaper an El Al bill of landing that shows the plane was carrying 190 liters of dimethy methylphosphonate (DMMP), four liters of isopropanol and an undisclosed amount of hydroflouric acid.

The chemicals were being sent to a super-secret weapons facility, called the Israel Institute of Biological Research (IIBR) south of Tel Aviv.

The Israeli government has claimed that the chemicals were intended for testing gas masks. But most military services use only a few grams for such purposes. The chemicals aboard the El Al jet were enough to produce 270 kilograms of sarin nerve gas — enough to annihilate the populations of many major cities.

The sarin components came from the Solkatronics chemical plant in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, then owned by Solvay, a chemical corporation based in Brussels Belgium. International transport of such materials is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Treaty, signed by the U.S.

The El Al jet also carried at least 800 kilograms of depleted uranium (DU), used as ballast to balance the jet’s cargo. Burned DU releases uranium dust, which is known to cause lung cancer and other diseases.

Dutch authorities and El Al admit Flight LY1862 carried sarin components and DU, but refuse to provide details on six tons of military cargo. According to airport security personnel, the plane carried seven pallets of unspecified munitions.

Journalist Dekker claims, on the basis of leaks from Dutch officials, that the jet carried 27 kilograms of weapons-grade plutonium, enough to make seven warheads the size of the bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki in 1945.

In addition, soil samples taken at the crash site have turned up evidence suggesting that nuclear weapons technology was being illegally shipped from the U.S. to Israel.

The El Al jet landed and took off at Schiphol, one of the world’s busiest civilian airports, and flew across the most densely populated area of Europe. If 27 kilograms of plutonium had bounced into the burning wreckage, nearly all of Western Europe would have faced a nuclear emergency bigger than the Chernobyl accident.

Dutch and Israeli authorities apparently organized a cover-up. Most documents taken from El Al officials have disappeared. Police audio tapes and 42 videotapes taken by the firefighters were shredded. Firemen claimed that they turned in the cockpit voice recorder, or “black box,” but the government denies that it was ever found. Metal parts from the wreckage were recycled and melted down before a proper investigation could begin.

Residents report seeing helicopters, painted black and without markings, landing in their neighborhood. Others tell of a French-speaking team searching the area, and a group of men speaking English, some clad in white chemical protective suits, carrying a heavy box covered with a white cloth.

The Dutch authorities have denied that these events ever happened.

Journalists say Dutch security officials have told them that the Netherlands has allowed Israel to make secret military air shipments through Schiphol since the 1950s. The shipments apparently are outside the Atlantic Alliance military treaties because the aircraft going to Israel are not refueled at NATO air bases but at the commercial airport of Schiphol.

“Schiphol has become a hub for secret weapons transfers because El Al has special status there. Dutch authorities have no jurisdiction over Israeli activities at the airport, said Henk van der Belt, a member of an investigation team set up by Bijlmeer residents.

Every Sunday at sundown, an El Al cargo plane stops at Schiphol, refueling midway on the long journey between New York and Tel Aviv. All Israel-bound cargo is put inside a vacuum chamber in an underground bunker to test it for bombs equipped with altimeter triggers. But the flight does not appear on any airport video monitors — there is not even an El Al check-in counter. Documents for air freight to Israel are handled inside an unmarked room.

A photo taken just before the 1992 accident showed that the engine of the El Al jet was off-center, indicating it was previously damaged.

Airport workers in Cologne, Germany, where the jet refueled on its way to New York, say the plane collided with an airport ground vehicle there. In other words, the cargo jet loaded with U.S.-made sarin, uranium and plutonium could have crashed in New York but it turned out to be a time-bomb flying to the heart of Europe.

Covering the Biljmeer crash for Japan Playboy, I uncovered the sordid facts of how the official investigation back then was undone by a large network of Israeli intelligence agents who paid hush money to victims’ families, pressured injured firefighters from filing lawsuits over radiation exposure, and suppressed data from the hangar where the wreckage was stored. The crippled El Al cargo jet, leased from UPS, had transported from JFK Airport in New York a secret load of weapons including plutonium, depleted uranium and a bioweapon called mycoplasm in its cargo bay before crashing on an attempt to return to Schipol Airport, in an operation directed by the Israeli intelligence service instead of Dutch flight officials.

Once again, this time in the destruction of MH17, there is an Israeli-connected air crash with political ramifications involving Israeli strategic interests, inside Israel exactly when its military launches an invasion of Gaza and in troubled Ukraine, a supplier of military electronics to the IDF.

Security at Schipol Airport is operated by ICTS, an Israeli-owned airport security company based in The Netherlands founded by former officers of the Shin Beit intelligence agency. Its subsidiaries are also involved in key security functions there, including ProCheck, Ramasso and I-SEC.

The Israeli security company has a record of staging false flag operations, including the September 11, 2001 attacks. ICaTS subsidiary Huntleigh provided passenger and baggage inspection services at Boston Logan Airport, where two of the four jetliners used in the 911 attack originated.

At Schipol Airport on Christmas 2009, ICTS allowed the “Underwear Bomber” Umar Farouk Abdulmutallah armed with explosives to slip past “sniffer” detectors to board a Detroit-bound Northwest flight, an incident that was a boon to Homeland Security and the global war on terrorism.

Initial information, even before the start of an official inquiry into MH17, raise serious questions of whether Israeli intelligence tampered with the flight controls and radar identification (transponder) system of the Malaysian-operated Boeing-777.

– MH17 deviated from the civilian flight path, which should cross close to the exit mouth of the Azov Sea, away from the current battle zone between the Ukraine military and militant ethnic Russian irregulars. Instead its navigation steered the jetliner on a more northerly course in contested airspace, where Ukraine military aircraft conduct both air strikes and troop transport missions, putting the Malaysian Airlines jet into jeopardy.

– The wide-body Boeing-777 jumbo jet is similar in profile to the Antonov (built by Kharkov Aircraft Industries in Ukraine) and Ilyushin (Russian-built) transport craft in service with the Ukraine military and air cargo fleets. At higher altitudes (MH17 was flying at 35,000 feet), the only way from ground level to identify a plane is by a coded radar response from its transponder signal. One possibility was that MH17 was programmed with a false responder code; while another problem could have been confusion with the transponder beam from a nearby Ukraine military craft. A more sinister scenario is the sending of a false ID signal from a ground-based vehicle.

In short, Israeli operatives could have loaded a bomb onto MH17 or used a false responder signal to lure a rebel missile battery to intercept a suspected incoming troop landing. Another issue for investigation, if these scenarios are verified, is the unspoken connection between the Boeing Corporation and the Israeli intelligence services. Boeing would have key data on tampering of any of its aircraft control systems, and both MH17 and MH370 were Boeing-777s.

Israeli intelligence had three possible motives for orchestrating a false flag incident blamed on ethnic Russians or on the Kremlin.

– first, the MH17 crash diverted international media attention from the launch of the Israeli invasion of Gaza, which is a serious rupture of existing peace accords and a massive assault on human rights. Malaysia is an outspoken voice in the UN and the world media on Palestinian rights in Gaza.

– second, Israel, even with the Zionist economic interests in Russia such as BP, has a historical interest in the 45 000-member strong Jewish community in the port of Odessa, which has a large stake in the financial sector, military electronics industry, missile production and weapons factories. PBN and GQR, lobbying organizations controlled by American Jewish neoconservatives, are the most influential force in Ukraine politics.

– third, the destruction of MH17 serves as a warning to the governments of Malaysia and Australia to cease any further investigation into the strong possibility that MH370 was hijacked by the Israeli military. MH370 was carrying engineers, designers, prototypes, specifications and a chip foundry for the world’s smallest microchip, the KL series. The leading edge technology is needed for Israel’s crash program to build a drone army, especially mini-robots capable of infiltrating Iran’s nuclear plants. One point of bias that needs to be disclosed is that this writer is a sympathizer of Ukraine independence and opposes Russian intervention. In specific incidents, however, such as the destruction of MH17, one’s preferences must be set aside in pursuit of the facts relevant to the case. The Israeli role in this affair cannot be ignored, especially considering its abiding interests in independent Ukraine. Therefore, the Kiev government should launch an investigation into the possibility of sabotage by an ally so as not to harm& nbsp;its legitimacy by incriminating itself together with Israeli state-sponsored terrorism, legitimate grounds for reprisal by its adversary. A Ukraine that claims to be independent should try to be independent.

As an investigation team approaches the crash site, the real cover-up is yet to begin. The family members and friends of both targeted Malaysian Airlines jetliners are owed the truth and the culprits must be dragged to justice.

Fukushima was impossible. The swamping of the generators by the tsunami was irrelevant, because the real emergency backup systems are driven by steam from the reactors themselves. No electricity is needed to operate three separate emergency systems at each reactor, each of which will keep a reactor safe even if only one works. Interesting it is then that all 9 non electrical backup systems across the three fueled reactors failed. This is technically impossible outside of willful intent, and was likely the result of a Stuxnet virus attack.

Stuxnet was designed specifically to target Siemens SCADA controllers and is most effective at tampering with fluid control systems. The centrifuges it attacked in Iran were ideal. So are the fluid control systems at a nuclear facility. Oil refineries are equally at risk, Stuxnet is most dangerous when affecting a system which needs to control the flow of any liquid, be it hydraulic, for cooling, or combining chemicals. Stuxnet is documented to have been produced by the Israeli Defense Forces, for the purpose of destroying any industrial system that can be destroyed by improper fluid flow.

Magna BSP, a Dimona based company with no history outside of IDF contracts prior to Fukushima has a suspiciously short domain history despite a 10 year claimed history. Magna BSP had a full time internet linked two way connection to the Fukushima reactor room(s) all the way through the disaster. They told TEPCO about that connection on March 15 (after everything blew sky high) via an article printed in the Jerusalem Post. Why did Manga BSP wait until everything was blown sky high to tell Tepco the data link existed, and then did not tell them face to face? I find it hard to believe that TEPCO would not have been interested in viewing a reactor that was about to explode. It seems impossible that Tepco would not have wanted to view the reactor, and probably did not ask because the link was kept a secret. It is a simple fact that internet connections are never allowed inside a reactor’s containment. The connection was mentioned in the Jerusalem Post AFTER the destruction was finalized.

Stuxnet has two modes, random and administrative. It can be administered to optimize the damage and can also transmit setup information and industrial system information to a remote computer. Once installed on the host system via a flash drive it causes that system to violate it’s normal security protocols and internet administration becomes possible if a connection exists. Tampering is not visible on the control room readouts, because Stuxnet learns what “normal” looks like and keeps the temperature, pressure, and other readouts within normal limits so that the operators are oblivious to the destruction happening in secret. Stuxnet appeared in Japan in June of 2010, shortly after Magna BSP arrived. Remote administration mode can be adjusted on demand to suit any need. No doubt the people at Fukushima sat there in idle mode thinking all was well until something screamed or went boom and at that point it would be too late to do anything other than cry.

I am a lifer in the types of control systems Fukushima and it’s clone, TVA owned Browns Ferry have. BOTH have been upgraded to modern Siemens controllers running the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system Stuxnet was designed to attack; upgrades are the norm in any major facility. On many blogs people say the controls were old and therefore Stuxnet immune; they are out of touch or have no knowledge of industrial control systems. I actually ferreted it out.

BWXT Pantex, America’s nuclear warhead facility, sprawls over 16,000 acres of the Texas Panhandle outside Amarillo. Run by the DoE and Babcock & Wilson, the site also serves as a storage facility for warheads past their expiration date. The 1989 shutdown of Rocky Flats, under community pressure in Colorado, forced the removal of those nuclear stockpiles to Pantex. Security clearances are required to enter since it is an obvious target for would-be nuclear thieves.

In June 2004, a server at the Albuquerque office of the National Nuclear Security System was hacked. Personal information and security-clearance data for 11 federal employees and 177 contractors at Pantex were lifted. NNSA did not inform Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman or his deputy Clay Sell until three months after the security breach, indicating investigators suspected an inside job.

While Bush and Abe met at Camp David, 500 unionized security guards at Pantex launched a 45-day strike. Scabs were hired, but many failed to pass the entry exam, according to the Inspector General’s office at DoE. The IG report cited witnesses who said: “BWXT officials gave passing grades to some replacement guards even though they actually flunked tests,” and “contractor officials gave correct answers to those that failed the tests.” Although the scene was nearly as comical as the heist in “Ocean’s Eleven”, Pantex is not some Vegas casino. At stake was nuclear Armageddon.

At an opportune moment during the two-month strike, trucks loaded with warhead cores rolled out of the gates. Some 16 metric tons of nuclear cores packed in caskets were hauled away in refrigerated containers to prevent fission. At the port of Houston, the dangerous cargo was loaded aboard vessels operated by an Israeli state-owned shipping line. The radioactive material was detected by port inspector Roland Carnaby, a private contractor working under the federal program to interdict weapons of mass destruction.

The intelligence community is still buzzing about his shooting death. On April 29, 2008, Houston police officers pursued Carnaby on a highway chase and gunned him down. His port monitoring contract was later awarded to the Israel-based security firm NICE (Neptune Intelligence Computer Engineering), owned by former Israeli Defense Force officers.

Throughout the Pantex caper, from the data theft to smuggling operation, Bush and Cheney’s point man for nuclear issues was DoE Deputy Director Clay Sell, a lawyer born in Amarillo and former aide to Panhandle district Congressman Mac Thornberry. Sell served on the Bush-Cheney transition team and became the top adviser to the President on nuclear issues. At DoE, Sell was directly in charge of the U.S. nuclear weapons complex, which includes 17 national laboratories and the Pantex plant. (Another alarm bell: Sell was also staff director for the Senate Energy subcommittee under the late Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska, who died in a 2010 plane crash.)

An Israeli Double-Cross

The nuclear shipments to Japan required a third-party cutout for plausible deniability by the White House. Israel acted less like an agent and more like a broker in demanding additional payment from Tokyo, according to intelligence sources. Adding injury to insult, the Israelis skimmed off the newer warhead cores for their own arsenal and delivered older ones. Since deteriorated cores require enrichment, the Japanese were furious and demanded a refund, which the Israelis refused. Tokyo had no recourse since by late 2008 principals Abe had resigned the previous autumn and Bush was a lame duck.

The Japanese nuclear developers, under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, had no choice but to enrich the uranium cores at Fukushima No.1, a location remote enough to evade detection by nonproliferation inspectors. Hitachi and GE had developed a laser extraction process for plutonium, which requires vast amounts of electrical power. This meant one reactor had to make unscheduled runs, as was the case when the March earthquake struck.

Tokyo dealt a slap on the wrist to Tel Aviv by backing Palestinian rights at the UN. Not to be bullied, the Israeli secret service launched the Stuxnet virus against Japan’s nuclear facilities.

Firewalls kept Stuxnet at bay until the Tohoku earthquake. The seismic activity felled an electricity tower behind Reactor 6. The power cut disrupted the control system, momentarily taking down the firewall. As the computer came online again, Stuxnet infiltrated to shut down the back-up generators. During the 20-minute interval between quake and tsunami, the pumps and valves at Fukushima No.1 were immobilized, exposing the turbine rooms to flood damage.

The flow of coolant water into the storage pools ceased, quickening evaporation. Fission of the overheated cores led to blasts and mushroom-clouds. Residents in mountaintop Iitate village overlooking the seaside plant saw plumes of smoke and could “taste the metal” in their throats.

Guilty as Charged

The Tohoku earthquake and tsunami were powerful enough to damage
Fukushima No.1. The natural disaster, however, was vastly amplified by two external factors: release of the Stuxnet virus, which shut down control systems in the critical 20 minutes prior to the tsunami; and presence of weapons-grade nuclear materials that devastated the nuclear facility and contaminated the entire region.

Stuxnet is a highly sophisticated designer-virus that wreaks havoc with SCADA systems which provide operational control for critical infrastructure and production networks, such as those used to operate a nuclear power plant.

Stuxnet-type viruses are uniquely dangerous because they are capable not only of affecting network computer systems, they can also cause actual physical damage to the equipment the networks control.

Specifically, Stuxnet damaged equipment at Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility, which reportedly set back the nation’s nuclear program several years.

From what I understand of the current crisis in Japan, the problems at the nuclear facilities did not stem from the reactors themselves sustaining significant damaged in the earthquake.

Instead, the problem with the reactor cores over-heating was caused by a disruption to the power and water supplies that are needed for the cooling systems. The problem was compounded by the destruction of the backup generators for the cooling system pumps in the subsequent tsunami.

In the past, the majority of these systems are operated manually or by analog control systems like electro-mechanical relays, but that is changing.

A senior member of the technical staff at one of our nation’s largest and most prestigious national research laboratories indicated that a significant number of the nuclear facilities in the U.S. have modernized the controls for those auxiliary systems, and are now employing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

According to the source, at least one facility specifically uses Siemens PLCs, the same type attacked by Stuxnet at Natanz in Iran.

If both the primary and redundant cooling components at that nuclear facility used PLCs and were hit with a Stuxnet-type attack that was able to cause physical damage to the equipment, we might witness events similar to those which are now playing out in Japan.

Granted, a Stuxnet-type attack would not also destroy roads and other infrastructure, or divert emergency response resources to other concerns. But, as far as the problems with cooling the reactor core, the challenges would be inherently similar.

I asked Richard Stiennon if he could provide some insight on this hypothetical scenario. Richard is the Chief Research Analyst and founder of IT-Harvest, an independent analyst firm that focuses on IT and network security. Richard is also the author of the thought provoking book Surviving Cyber War, a holder of Gartner’s Thought Leadership award, and was named “one of the 50 most powerful people in Networking” by NetworkWorld Magazine.

Stiennon confirms that a Stuxnet-type attack could theoretically cause reactor core cooling systems to be disrupted:

“Stuxnet targeted high speed rotating machinery controls, most probably the Uranium enrichment centrifuges in Iran. Both electricity generators and water pumps are examples of rotating machinery that are also controlled in industrial systems by PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers). Communications with industrial control systems, often via SCADA, can be a vector for attack, or as in the case of Stuxnet, malware can be introduced directly by a bad actor. It is not hard to extrapolate that designer-malware could target these systems with the intent to shut them down and cause at the very least the emergency shut down of a nuclear power plant, at the worst, release of a radioactive plume and the permanent disabling of the reactor – as has happened in Japan,” Stiennon replied via email.

Numerous experts have speculated that a major cyber attack on critical infrastructure would most likely not occur in isolation, but in conjunction with a conventional kinetic attack, which would present a situation even more similar to what we are witnessing in the aftermath the natural disaster that occurred in Japan.

If a Stuxnet-like attack could in effect produce serious kinetic damage on the magnitude of disabling of a nuclear facility, or worse, the discharge of radioactive material and the potential for a core meltdown, the notion that such an attack would only occur in conjunction with a traditional military offensive seems to be less likely

In these still early hours following the mystery crash of MH17, one must dare to think the unthinkable. An investigator goes to where the evidence leads, and the evidence so far from the crash site indicates a hellish scenario beyond imagining.

Besides the nearly 300 passengers aboard the ill-fated Malaysian Airlines, the plane’s cargo bay was loaded with dozens of infected corpses drained of their blood and countless packets of possibly virus-contaminated blood serum, according to the local eyewitnesses, first-arrivers at the crash site in the Donetsk region along Ukraine-Russia borderlands.

The gruesome finding points irrefutably to Malthusian skulduggery at the highest levels of the World Health Organization (WHO) in sponsoring a covert biological warfare program against the population of Asia. A systematic investigation is now required to uncover the deadliest plot against humanity in modern history. The more predictable outcome, unfortunately, is likely to be a cover-up on an unprecedented scale to protect the globalist elite from scrutiny, legal prosecution and justice.

The blatant violation of international laws for transporting infectious agents indicates a criminal intent in their use at destination. IATA, the watchdog agency for air travel, strictly controls and registration rules in the conveyance of corpses and infectious substances due to the dangers of accidental spillage or deliberate biowarfare. The WHO also imposes tight reporting rules for physical transfer of materials between laboratories, and is therefore now caught in flagrante delicto violating its own rules.

The notable failure by the Israeli-controlled Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport customs clearance, in addition to the WHO and IATA, to warn emergency crews and investigators at the crash site of the epidemic danger proves that the gruesome cargo was transported illegally without registration. The UN and WHO are directly implicated in this covert transfer of biowarfare agents in the cargo hold, accompanying some 100 of their top virus researchers, staff members and NGO supporters in the passenger cabin.

Pity the first responder

According to rebel commander Igor Girson, who goes by the nom de guerre Strelkov, as quoted by AP, reported that local villagers who rushed to the crash scene found “a significant number of the bodies weren’t fresh.” The first-responders also said the corpses had been drained of blood and reeked of decomposition.

Could the cadavers have been air-freighted for simple anatomy classes? That is a freshman question. Paying air-cargo fees to send bodies to Asia is more of a financial loss than sending coals to Newcastle. There is no shortage of fresh John Does on ice from places like the Philippines. Drained of blood and reeking from decay, the corpses can be nothing other than carriers of an infectious disease.

Decomposed cadavers and tainted blood exposed to wind, soil and ground water pose a present and clear threat to public health for millions of people across Ukraine, western Russia and the countries of the Black Sea, including Moldova, Turkey and even as far as Greece. A regional warning needs to be issued, but none is forthcoming, not when the WHO is implicated while its executives, the hidden elitist sponsors of genocide, scramble for the cover of respectability. These reprobates nestled in the medical bureaucracy are far ;worse than ordinary war criminals.

A hair’s breadth from worst case

In a worst-case scenario, and the facts thus far point to a hair’s breadth short of worst case, the MH17 crash on the Ukraine-Russian borderlands could have been the start of a real World War Z. Conversely the shoot-down could have been an act of twisted heroism in a desperate last-minute strike to prevent biological warfare on a global scale.

One question logically raised is whether the transport of infected corpses and tainted blood to host countries can be a standard feature of the UNAIDS conferences. Serving as a medical-science reporter with The University of Hong Kong press, I reported extensively on UNAIDS 2001 in that that city and visited the top research university laboratories. I can attest that bodies and blood samples were not obtained as part of the proceedings, and precautionary procedures for the sharing of tiny bits of samples were always followed to a tee.

The WHO was shipping its “zombie” passengers for a criminal purpose, very possibly genocide on a wide scale, perhaps continental. Blood-drained corpses are the stuff of horror movies, but this nightmare arose from one of the busiest airports of “civilized” Europe, and one controlled by ITCS, a security company linked from its inception to the Israeli Mossad.

Mad Scientists with renewed support from above

A reason for concern, early in this investigation, is the fact that The Netherlands, the origin of of Flight 17, is the center for the engineering of weaponized viruses under Ron Fouchier, the closest research associate of the notorious Japanese influenza expert Yoshihiro Kawaoka. The flu-research center at Eramus Medical University in Rotterdam is the sister-laboratory of Kawaoka’s Institute of Infectious Virus Research at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The deadly duo’s pseudo-scientific research includes the “perfection” of a Spanish flu virus that killed of 20 million victims worldwide in 1918-19. Kawaoka recently boasted that nothing can stop his newest variant of H5N1, the avian influenza virus. Fouchier’s fanatic disciples, meanwhile, have been weaponizing the H7N9 bird-flu virus that killed more than 40 people in China. (Weaponization involves three objectives, first, to hasten the ability of a virus to spread, that is, to be more contagious; second, to increase its lethality; and third, to develop an antidote available only to the chosen few.)

Kawaoka and Fouchier are not mad scientists working on the fringe, they are accredited researchers with powerful funding support. Two years agi, the twin labs received a massive boost in funding from unidentified sources funneled through department budgets despite vociferous objections from other scientists as to the unstoppable risks.

The patrons of the deadly research includes the chairman of the Eramus University trustee board, Anton Van Rossum, a former executive with Solvay, the Belgium chemical producer that illegally provided sarin-gas components to the Israeli biowarfare program aboard an El Al jetliner that crashed in Amsterdam. The El Al flight hit a crowded apartment block, soon after takeoff from Schiphol Airport, which also is the takeoff point for MH17.

Aboard that El Al flight was a shipment of an RNA-based bioweapon known as mycoplasm, which replicates in water (for example, inside the human lungs) and is suspected to have been used in the two Gulf Wars against Iraq. Bioweapons, Solvay, Israeli, Schiphol, ICTS and Boeing are the common denominators between 1992 El Al crash and the 2014 Malaysia Airlines disaster

Preventative action at tragic cost

If the world can still believe in “heroes in white armor” or at least bad guys with a grain of common sense under their black hats, a Hollywood-type disaster script emerges from this real-life action flick. Before the zombie cargo escapes Europe to launch World War Z in Asia, top generals with NATO and the Russian command decide that the payload must be stopped at any cost. The passenger casualties tragic as they are, the loss of billions of innocent lives in an unstoppable global pandemic must be prevented.

Indeed, an independent technical analysis of the video clips from the crash site, by a retired CIA crash expert, confirms just such a scenario:

– the metal fuselage of the Boeing-777 shows no traces of deep and long scratch marks from the steel balls delivered in the warhead of a Buk ground-to-air missile;
– The starboard (right-wing) jet engine was badly damaged and caught fire, pointing to a hit by a smaller air-to-air missile launched from a fighter interceptor, flying at about the same altitude; and
– the midsection was “blown outward and not inward,” indicating a bomb blast inside the cargo bay.

The expert observations, when assembled, shows that a NATO interceptor fired a heat-seeking missile at a jet engine, triggering a fire. The flames were expected to move up the fuel lines inside the wing to set fire to the plane and incinerate all contents, especially the infected corpses and blood packets.

The midair disinfection plan came undone when a bomb hidden inside the cargo bay by the Israelis, timed to explode at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to spread biowarfare agents after all the passengers debarked safely, instead heated up and burst midair. The bomb blast blew out the on-board fire before the cargo was torched. The plane plummeted to the ground with the biowarfare agents and corpses intact.

World’s military commanders dread biowarfare

President Vladimir Putin, out of character, did not react forcefully to the accusations of a Russian role in the shoot-down, indicating military commands of NATO and Russia are on the same page in their determination to stop the Israeli-inspired, WHO-backed bioweapons attack against the world population. The other question now, besides decontamination, is: How to track down and punish the perpetrators and planners who were not aboard MH17?

The Ukrainian side, which lacks any of the intelligence professionalism required for these sorts of code-red operations, bungled their version of events and clumsily imposed a communications blackout over the control tower at Kiev Airport. Preventing global genocide is not a task for Cub Scouts out to protect their petty national interests. Imperial powers are far more astute at the deadly game, which is why they are empires and mere nations.

The threat of World War Z is not over, not when Ukrainians and Russians are being exposed to the unleashed viruses that defy inoculation with vaccines. Trained biowarfare experts in safety suits should collect the evidence and torch the bodies in a mobile plasma incinerator. By the time the clean-up is finished, Eastern Ukraine could end up as uninhabited as the central Congo after WHO teams eliminated all potential carriers of ebola.

Evil never quits

The world’s population has practically zero awareness of the well-hidden strategists who plan and order annihilation of entire regions, as has been happening with the ebola campaign and AIDS in Central Africa, or the Factor VIII HIV-tainted blood propagation to the war-torn Balkans and Japan under the Clinton and Bush administrations. This summer another brazen biowarfare attack was within a razor’s edge of exterminating Malaysians and millions of other Asians.

War on a global scale is no longer fought in trenches, but waged in laboratories, airports, city centers, hospitals, senior homes and schools.It is not called total war, it is simply known as global policy. As a footnote, it should be noted that Professor Kawaoka is a graduate of Kobe University, and that port city is the traditional center for veterans of Unit 731, which unleashed plague and hanta virus against entire cities in World War II. The WHO is the successor to Unit 731, and so WWZ is upon us.

Journalist Accuses Israel of Fukushima Sabotage

A leading Japanese journalist recently made two incredible claims about the Fukushima power plant that suffered a nuclear meltdown in March 2011, sending shockwaves around the world. First, the former editor of a national newspaper in Japan says the U.S. and Israel knew Fukushima had weapons-grade uranium and plutonium that were exposed to the atmosphere after a massive tsunami wave hit the reactor. Second, he contends that Israeli intelligence sabotaged the reactor in retaliation for Japan’s support of an independent Palestinian state.

According to Yoichi Shimatsu, a former editor of Japan Times Weekly, these nuclear materials were shipped to the plant in 2007 on the orders of Dick Cheney and George W. Bush, with the connivance of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The shipment was in the form of warhead cores secretly removed from the U.S. nuclear warheads facility BWXT Plantex near Amarillo, Texas. While acting as the middleman, Israel transported warheads from the port of Houston, and in the process kept the best ones while giving the Japanese older warhead cores that had to be further enriched at Fukushima.

Shimatsu credits retired CIA agent and mercenary Roland Vincent Carnaby with learning the warheads were being transported from Houston. In a strange twist, Carnaby was mysteriously shot dead less than a year later by Houston police at a traffic stop. He was shot once in the back and once in the chest. He did not have a weapon in his hands. Intelligence sources said he had been tracking a Mossad unit that was smuggling U.S. plutonium out of Houston docks for an Israeli nuclear reactor.

In an even more explosive charge, the journalist says that 20 minutes before the Fukushima plant’s nuclear meltdown, Israel was so upset with Japanese support for a Palestinian declaration of statehood that it double-crossed Japan by unleashing the Stuxnet virus on the plant’s computers. The virus hampered the shutdown, leading to fallout from a section of the plant housing uranium and plutonium retrieved from the warheads supplied in 2007.

While it is impossible to verify some of Shimatsu’s claims, there was a massive cover-up at the time of the Fukushima disaster in March. Explosions at the site were immediately downplayed. While it was subsequently reported that three reactors suffered meltdowns, Japanese authorities tried to rate the disaster as a Level 4 on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale, although outside experts declared it a 7, which is the highest level.

Something worth noting is how in 2009, two years after Shimatsu says the warheads were secretly moved to Japan, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) issued a veiled warning to Japan not to abandon its anti-nuclear weapons policy.

The IAEA had to know, however, that Japan has long retained the potential to build nuclear weapons. That was made clear as far back as 1996 when a leaked Ministry of Foreign Affairs document exposed how Japan had been promoting a dual strategy in respect to nuclear weapons since the mid-1960s. It would often publicly profess a non-nuclear policy while maintaining the ability to build a nuclear arsenal. The Liberal Democratic Party, which has dominated Japanese politics, has always said there is no constitutional impediment to nukes.

A factor that undoubtedly would have encouraged the Bush-Cheney White House to provide Japan with the means to secretly build nukes was the growing power of China. Cheney and Bush sought to arm Japan and India with nuclear weapons as a means of curbing China.

9/11 Cough – More Than Just “Asthma” Indeed

What in the world could Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration possibly be thinking in appealing a deputy mayor’s workman’s compensation case to cover his doctors’ costs in order to care for his 9/11-related illness? Wouldn’t ya think that, knowing what they know, (wink wink) at the very, very least Bloomberg’s office would pay his doctors handsomely to treat his “asthma” and provide top-knotch, skilled 24/7 nursing care to keep Mr. Washington comfortable – not to mention, uh, very calm, sedate, and, primarily… quiet?

Penny-wise and pound foolish, oh Mr. Mayor. When deathly sick Deputy Mayors talk, Mr. Bloomberg, no doubt the press will be listening to his words – between the coughs, that is.

With highly radioactive levels found at the Pentagon on 9/11 what would make anyone think any differently about the air surrounding Ground Zero?

Ten bucks it’s not asbestos, computer part fragments, and concrete powder dust alone that’s making this NYC Deputy Mayor sicker than sick by this, uh NYC “mystery” disease. What do you want to make a bet that no physician has ever been encouraged to order (or, rather been allowed to order) a special test using a mass spectrometer to test for the presence of Airborne Uranium Particulates on the Deputy Mayor (or on any of the thousands of other New York residents and workers who are succumbing to this “mysterious” disease, for that matter)?

Call it just a hunch, but my guess is that testing of this Deputy Mayor and other New Yorkers for the presence of Uranium radiation poisoning for that nasty hacking cough might be more than worth every GZ resident and worker’s last dime.

The test is reportedly costly and not easy to obtain, but if I were a GZ resident or emergency worker like Mr. Washington? I’d indeed be high-tailing it in less than a New York Minute from Manhattan to a clinic 6 1/2 hours in a northwest direction away to Waterport, NY at the first sign of any nasty “asthmatic” post-9/11 Ground Zero cough.

New Yorkers with the mysterious Ground Zero illness, in all likelihood, never received this test in a regular Manhattan hospital. And I would doubt very much that the NYC Health Department is ever going to recommend it, either.

If high radioactive levels were found near the Pentagon (and they were) it certainly would not hurt to similarly test for the presence of radiation sickness in those who spent time around Ground Zero, as well.

NYC deputy mayor claims 9/11 illness

NEW YORK, May 17 (UPI) — A New York deputy mayor who was caught in the plume of debris in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks claims he contracted a lingering respiratory illness.

Rudy Washington, 52, filed a state worker’s compensation claim late last year to cover his doctors’ costs, but Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration is appealing it, the New York Post reported.

Washington, who became a consultant after the end of the Rudy Giuliani’s administration, arrived on the scene at Ground Zero soon after the attack and was caught in the plume after the first tower fell.

Sources said Washington became sick almost immediately after the attack and was hospitalized with a mysterious illness. He was later diagnosed with asthma, which he never suffered prior to the attack, and is now on several medications.

Worker’s compensation claims are not publicly available and officials are barred by law from talking about them, the newspaper said.

Uranium pollution from the Amsterdam 1992 plane crash

On Sunday October 4, 1992, an El Al Boeing with military cargo crashed in an apartment building in the Bijlmer neighbourhood of Amsterdam. 43 people directly lost their lives. More people have died since and many are still suffering from unidentified diseases.

The government denies every connection with the disaster, while all of these persons have been inhaling poisonous smoke from the burning airplane and the flats. The flats contained asbestos and lots of plastics. Parts of the contents of the plane are still unknown but three of the four components of sarin nerve gas were in the cargo.

It is known that the destroyed Boeing aircraft carried 75 tons of kerosene and 10 tons of chemicals. From the plane itself at least 152 kg of the DU counterweights is missing. Most probably, it has burnt into particles. Because of the very “sensitive” cargo, official investigations into the plane crash have been marked by secrecy, denial and misinformation.

Since the Yom Kippur War in 1973, an agreement exist between the Netherlands and Israel. Under the agreement Israeli aircraft are granted special status at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Israel’s national airline El AL, uses the airport to refuel planes coming from the US and going to Israel. Sometimes on a daily base, EL Al cargo planes land and take off, carrying munitions, military technology and other, often classified loads.

One of Israel’s privileges on the airport are “different procedures”. The cargo of Israeli planes is only checked on paper, and most of the time the airway bills do not match the cargo. Another procedure that is different is known as “flying the El Al way”. Because of fear for terrorist attacks, El Al aircraft may land and take off as they see fit. This is most probably the reason why the fatal route was above residential area. The airport had a different landing track in mind than the pilot when he tried to return to the airport, chosing a landing track with the most unsuitable wind on the tail. The pilot may have thought he was hit by a missile and the landing track he chose was known to provide the best coverage against terrorists.

The cause of the plane crash was a lack of maintenance on the bolts which attach the engines to the wings. These bolts had so much metal fatigue that two engines could break from one wing. The pilots lost oil pressure to serve the flaps on that side. Because the plane was unevenly loaded, with heavy cargo on one side, it rolled over.

The crash in the apartment building caused a huge fire plume. Eye witnesses have seen flames in all colours of the rainbow, which indicate different chemicals. The smell and smoke were suffocating, and kept on for days. However, the Dutch authorities declared that only flowers, perfume and electronics were the on the cargo list.

Delayed death came within 2 days after the disaster, starting with small pets, such as birds. The first dogs died 3 weeks later. Samples of pets and guard dogs were analysed in different laboratories than those of humans. In contrast to physicians, veterinarians have confirmed that the animals were poisoned.

A hidden epidemic started among the residents, professional and voluntary fire fighters, medical personnel, first aid workers, ambulance personnel, police with dogs and horses, army personnel, identification teams, the salvation army and other relief workers. Journalists, too, have inhaled toxic and radioactive fumes, along with disaster tourists, workers who sorted out the remnants of the crash, crane drivers, suppliers of containers, construction workers, etc…

A cluster of serious human health problems became evident after half a year. Many residents had health problems, such as pain in the chest, pain in the joints, loss of hair, rashes, unusual fatigue, vertigo, nausea, red skin spots, sour throat, nephritis and cancer. But physicians did not know what to do about it. The most common diagnosis was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTTD). That the people who started working on ground-zero days after the disaster had the same health problems was ignored.

Many professional workers didn’t even get a diagnosis, they were just ignored. The physicians of the fire fighters, police and other services denied the complaints of dozens of their employees. All these healthy men and women, in the prime of their lives, suddenly fell ill. As their health problems were not acknowledged, they had no one to turn to; several suicides occurred. Meanwhile, officials knew just one phrase: “there is no connection with the disaster”.

In 1993 Annemie Ummels, a peace activist, and the Laka Foundation brought in the news that the airplane was furnished with depleted uranium (DU) counterweights. Yet, the scientist spokesperson from the Dutch government, Keverling Buisman, stated that these counterweights stay intact during a crash and could not have burnt in the fire afterwards. According to him, there was no possibility whatsoever that people could have inhaled DU.

The company that worked with the remnants of the aircraft had detected DU in the dust around the wreckage within 3 days. Also the Civil Aviation Authority (former RLD), the National transportation and safety board (US) and the FAA have known this. They also knew that not all DU counterweights were found back. Meanwhile, radiation was also detected detected by a civilian working on airplanes parked in the same hangar. The government managed to deny or ignore all of the above issues for years.

Yet, one local politician decided that something had to be done for the residents, and asked for a medical investigation. The question was wether DU could have been inhaled on ground-zero, and if there could be a connection with the inexplicable health problems of Bijlmer residents.

The resulting investigation comprised of an interview with five residents, phone calls with some Bijlmer physicians, and a survey among a bigger group of physicians. No one, except for one voluntary fire fighter with a terrible rash on his foot due to standing in the sludge, was diagnosed with a disease related to the disaster.

In 1994 the Amsterdam Research Service on Environmental Protection and Soil Mechanics (Omegam) took soil samples to search for DU. They found increasing pollution towards ground-zero, but below the health norm. But governmental institutions were loosing their credibility, which is exemplified by the discovery that Omegam took samples from already remediated soil.

Still, the government had to address the issue of the missing uranium. In 1994, the scientist spokesman for the Dutch government, admitted that the DU counterweights might all have burnt after all. Despite this, the responsible ministers and spokespersons from the aviation council would repeat the government’s earlier assurance that this was not possible for years to come.

Meanwhile one physician in the Bijlmer noticed that many more miscarriages, stillborns, chromosomal aberrations and auto-immune diseases occurred in his area. He compiled a complete dossier, but no health agencies responded. Also, the health minister denied a proposal for a health survey in 1996, supposedly because there was only one patient. The minister kept denying until in 1997, when she finally promised to start investigations as soon as possible. After more than a year, a hotline was opened at a hospital in 1999. A paper questionnaire, most about mental problems, had to be filled in. The official result was that the complaints were too diffuse, with no further options to investigate.

In 1999, the Visie Foundation took dust samples in the hangar where the aircraft’s wreck was kept. It proved the presence of DU dust around the wreckage, which was later confirmed by governmental organisations. By then, the media were full of the disaster, reporting about the ongoing health problems and the missing DU. They also started to question the secret flights of El Al in the days after the disaster, and discovered fraud with airway bills. Even the official flight route of the plane did not match with eyewitness’ reports. These and other issues raised by the media finally urged the government to start a parliamentary inquiry. At the beginning of 1999 a Parliamentary Inquiry Commission was inaugurated to resolve a list of 89 so-called “theories”. Within a few months, the Commission had miraculously invcalidated all of them. For example, they falsified the theory that the plane contained 1500 kilograms of DU, which was already known to be false since 1993, when Boeing declared that 390 kilograms of DU). The Commission also managed invalidate three theories about the disappearance of the cockpit voice recorder. Such results offered an easy way to say that all issues had now been resolved. Yet, both the recorder as well as most of the DU counterweights were still missing.

At one of the Commission’s hearings, watched by many on television, a tape was played. On the tape, an El Al Operations worker said to Schiphol traffic control: “There were many explosives aboard, cartridges. There was poison aboard”. The traffic control officers then promised to keep this “under the cap”. A few hours later, however, a reassuring explanation of the conversation was offered: the El Al worker was reading from the airway bill New York-Amsterdam.

As for the issue of the missing uranium, the Commission did establish that part of it was likely burnt in the fire. However, it accepted the view of the national health agency that the resulting DU particles were not posing much of a health risk. The Dutch government spokesman, Keverling Buisman, stated under oath that smoking one cigarette was worse than inhaling DU dust in Bosnia and Kosovo.

The Commission’s final report was a reconstruction of the disaster made with the help of perjury of police, aviation authorities and politicians, professional silence, lies, deceit, manipulation and even intimidation. In fact, prosecution for perjury has been considered by the Commission at least four times, but this was prevented by the minister of justice.

After a discussion about the final report in parliament, the responsible ministers were held accountable, but none of them had to resign. The government promised to initiate an extensive examination of all health problems among residents and rescue workers by a team of specialists.

In total 4804 persons applied for a medical examination; 1685 residents, 2765 aid workers and 356 KLM-employees who had worked in hangar 8. But in the summer 2001 the Dutch government stopped the epidemiological and medical investigations among residents. The results of the research on aid workers and KLM personnel were presented in 2003. Finally in July 2004 all examinations were officially closed, effectively burying all promises made to the parliament “under the cap”. The health minister stated that there was “no indication for further action”.

It is rather sinister that the Dutch government has closed the book on the Bijlmer disaster while so many people are still suffering. The residents have never been examined for asbestos, PCB’s from burnt plastics, the three components of sarin nerve gas, kerosene, or for the rest of the chemical cocktail. Left alone by (health) authorities, residents with health problems have had often no other resort than commercial laboratories. Many are swindled to do very costly tests which are worthless without accreditation by the health authorities. The tests are therefore not paid by health insurance.

Meanwhile, El Al planes continue to fly over the city of Amsterdam with classified cargo. On August 3, 2003, an El Al cargo aircraft lost parts of its body while landing at Amsterdam airport. The next day, the damaged plane was allowed to take off again. The Dutch air traffic authority had not even bothered to conduct a safety inspection.

`A 747 may contain as much as 1,500 kilograms [3,300 lbs.] of the material,` the Canadian Press reported.

Oxidized uranium a danger
In 1988, American physicist Robert L. Parker wrote that in the worst-case scenario, the crash of a Boeing 747 could affect the health of 250,000 people through exposure to uranium oxide particles. `Extended tests by the Navy and NASA showed that the temperature of the fireball in a plane crash can reach 1,200 degrees Celsius. Such temperatures are high enough to cause very rapid oxidation of depleted uranium,` he wrote.

Pentagon – high radiation
In Alexandria, seven miles south of the burning Pentagon, a doctor with years of experience working with radiation issues found elevated radiation levels on 9-11 of 35 to 52 counts per minute (cpm) using a `Radalert 50` Geiger counter.

One week after 9-11, in Leesburg, 33 miles northwest of the Pentagon, soil readings taken in a residential neighborhood showed even higher readings of 75 to 83 cpm.

Readings are an underestimate
The Radalert 50, Folkers said, is primarily a gamma ray detector and `detects only 7 percent of the beta radiation and even less of the alpha.` This suggests that actual radiation levels may have been significantly higher than those detected by the doctor`s Geiger counter.

WHAT IS DEPLETED URANIUM?

Depleted Uranium, or DU, is a waste material left over from the nuclear industry. A vast amount of this waste DU is produced when natural uranium is enriched for use in nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons. Only the uranium isotope U-235 can be used in nuclear processes, such as reactors and weapons. As most of this isotope is removed from naturally occurring uranium, the remaining uranium product comprises U-238 and smaller amounts of the more highly radioactive U-235 and U-234.

DU is chemically toxic and radioactive
DU is both chemically toxic and radioactive. It is this latter product, the left over uranium, comprising mainly U-238, which has been used to make ‘depleted’ uranium weapons. It is used for weapons because this heavy, dense metal is judged by the army to be an excellent penetrator of enemy armour, tanks, and even buildings.

DU is contaminated with plutonium and other radioactive substances
A large amount of DU in the stockpiles held in the United States has been contaminated with recycled spent nuclear fuel from nuclear reactors. For example trace amounts of U-236 and highly radioactive substances such as plutonium, neptunium and technetium were found in a DU anti-tank shell used in Kosovo.

DU is many more times radioactive than uranium ore
Governments have largely ignored the serious dangers this recycled fuel represents. A common defence used by the British and US governments and their militaries is to claim that depleted uranium is less radioactive than natural uranium and therefore does not constitute a risk to human health. This statement is, however, misleading. In its natural form uranium is present in our environment in very small quantities as an ore, for example in rocks and soil. Conversely, the DU used by the military has been concentrated relative to background amounts, and is therefore many times more radioactive than uranium ore.

Radiation levels 1900x higher than background radiation
In May 2003 Scott Peterson, a writer with the US newspaper CSM, examined radioactivity levels next to DU bullets in Baghdad and found Geiger-counter readings were 1900 times greater than background radiation levels next to DU bullets. When natural uranium is concentrated in a similar form to ‘depleted’ uranium it emits about 40% more alpha radiation, 15% more gamma radiation and around the same level of beta radiation. The chemical toxicity of uranium does not depend on the isotope, therefore enriched, ‘normal’, and depleted uranium are equally toxic chemically.

US has 1 billion tonnes of DU stored
It is extremely difficult and expensive for the nuclear industry to store DU. It is thought that the US currently has 1 billion tonnes of depleted uranium radioactive waste, while the UK has at least 50,000 tonnes.

Some stored in leaky and corrosive cylinders
This waste is stored in cylinders at many sites across the US and UK and is vulnerable to corrosion and leaks owing to ageing cylinders and outside storage. It is stored mainly in the form of depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUF6) which can leak if the corroding cylinders are breached. At least 10 cylinders are known to have breached during the past 10 years.

Trying to make money from DU and causing an environmental disaster
Turning this DU waste into weapons solves some of the problem faced by the Government and nuclear industry, concerning what to do with these large stockpiles. Not only is DU practically free of charge for the arms manufacturers, but it no longer has to be stored and monitored indefinitely.

THE HEALTH EFFECTS OF DEPLETED URANIUM

When a DU weapon is fired, it creates radioactive dust
There are three main routes through which DU exposure on the battlefield takes place: inhalation, ingestion and wounding.(2) As a DU penetrator hits its target some of the DU from the weapon reacts with the air in the ensuing fire and becomes a fine dust (often called an ‘aerosol’) that makes inhalation and ingestion a possibility for those in the area. Even after the dust has settled, the danger remains that it may be resuspended in the future by further activity or the wind, and again pose a threat to civilians and others for many years into the future.

DU dust is insoluble and stays in tissues causing bone marrow irradiation and cancer
Inhaled DU dust will settle in the nose, mouth, lung, airways and guts. As a DU penetrator hits its target, the high temperatures caused by the impact ensure the DU dust particles become ceramic and therefore water insoluble. This means that, unlike other more soluble forms of uranium, DU will stay in the body for much longer periods of time. This aspect of uranium toxicology has often been ignored in studies of the health effects of DU, which base their excretion rates on soluble uranium. DU dust can remain in the sticky tissues of the lung and other organs such as the kidneys for many years. It is also deposited in the bones where it can remain for up to 25 years.(4) This helps explain why studies of Gulf War veterans have found that soldiers are still excreting DU in their urine over 12 years after the 1991 conflict (5) . Ingested DU can be incorporated into bone and from there will irradiate the bone marrow, increasing the risk of leukaemia and an impaired immune system. (6)

Kidneys the first organ damaged by DU
Inside the body, DU poses a health risk in a variety of ways to different organs. The kidneys are the first organ to be damaged by DU. At a high dose kidney uranium levels can lead to kidney failure within a few days of exposure.8 Lower doses lead to kidney dysfunction, and can lead to an increased risk of kidney disease later in life.

Tiny nuclear bombs in the lungs emitting radiation for years
As a radioactive emitter, DU also presents a risk to the lungs. Traditionally, radiation dosimetry measures the extent of harm by calculating the external radiation absorbed by the tissues; the so-called ‘absorbed’ dose.(9)However because DU dust is inhaled or ingested, it can remain in the body tissues and emit intensive radiation over a longer period. This way it can cause a large amount of damage over a relatively small area, changing a person’s genetic codes and causing cancers.

Low-level radiation can cause genetic damage
There is much new evidence emerging about the risks from so-called ‘low level’ radiation and the damage it can do to DNA. Considerable evidence has been accumulated recently about the ‘by-stander’ effect, which shows that irradiated cells pass on damage to surrounding healthy cells. In this way it is thought low-level radiation can cause much greater damage than would otherwise be expected.(10) Studies have also shown that irradiated cells pass on chromosomal aberrations to their progeny so that non-irradiated cells several generations, or cell divisions later, will exhibit this radiation-induced genomic instability (RIGI).(11)

Causes birth defects – Gulf War babies have 50% more chance of deformities
It’s not just in terms of increased risk of cancer that DU DNA damage can affect health. It is also implicated in causing a depressed immune system, reproductive problems, and birth defects. For example, a study of US Gulf War veterans has found that they are up to three times as likely to have children with birth deformities than fathers who had not served; and that pregnancies result in significantly higher rates of miscarriage.(12) A major 2004 Ministry of Defence-funded survey study from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has found that babies whose fathers served in the first Gulf War are 50 per cent more likely to have physical abnormalities. They also found a 40 per cent increased risk of miscarriage among women whose partners served in the Gulf.

Basra – 5x congenital malformations; 4x cancers
In Basra, in southern Iraq, there have been striking reports for a number of years about the rise in local childhood cancers and birth deformities seen there. The findings of a leading Iraqi epidemiologist, Dr Alim Yacoub,13 were presented in New York in June 2003 and suggest there has been a more than five fold increase in congenital malformations and a quadrupling of the incidence rates of malignant diseases in Basra.(14)

20 cases out of 4000 Iraqi babies had missing eyes
The Dutch Journal of Medical Science reported the findings of the Flemish eye doctor, Edward De Sutter. He found 20 cases out of 4000 births in Iraq of babies with the phenomenon anophthalmos: babies who have been born with only one eye or who are missing both eyes. The very rare condition usually only affects 1 out of 50 million births.

Children are at special risk
The damaging effects to health that DU weapons present are of particular concern because of the likelihood of civilians becoming exposed after conflicts have ended. Children especially are at risk because of playing in and ingesting contaminated soil and most of the health risks discussed are of particular danger to younger children.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION FROM DU

DU gets into the food chain and water supply
The release of DU into the environment can pollute land and water for decades to come. Its danger is not limited to battlefield releases but will expose present and future generations of civilians to contaminated food and water supplies. Environmental releases of this sort can also be expected to have negative effects on plant and animal life although little is known about this.

DU dust in soil
DU dust in the environment can become resuspended through weather conditions and human activity, such as farming. Of particular worry is that children are especially vulnerable to receiving significant exposures through playing on sites and ingestion of contaminated soil by way of typical hand-to-mouth activity.

DU can also contaminate soil through corrosion from the original penetrator. It is believed that 70-80% of all DU penetrators used in the Gulf and the Balkans remain buried in the soil.

Reckless firing of DU weapons
The British and US militaries have demonstrated extreme irresponsibility in releasing DU into the environment, using it without proper monitoring or information about the risks it poses even in their own countries. In January 2003, the US Navy admitted routinely firing DU from its Phalanx guns in prime fishing waters off the coast of Washington state since 1977. At the Dundrennan testsite in Scotland around 30 tonnes of DU rounds have been fired into the Solway Firth. Only one has ever been retrieved, when it was found in a fisherman’s net.

DU AND THE MILITARY

DU – cheap and deadly
DU is used in a variety of military applications. It is attractive to the military, governments and the nuclear industry for three main reasons. Firstly, as mentioned earlier, it is in cheap and plentiful supply and solves the problem of storage and monitoring. Secondly, it is a very effective battlefield weapon because its high density and self-sharpening qualities enable it to penetrate hard targets with ease. Thirdly, DU is pyrophoric, which means it burns on impact, enhancing its ability to destroy enemy targets. The UK test firing of DU began at the Eskmeals range in Cumbria in the early 1960s.

Government knows DU causes cancer
In 1993, a leaked Pentagon report revealed how the use of DU could lead to increased cancer risks: this leak caused the US manufacturers to switch to tungsten alternatives. Because of this the Royal Navy has been forced to convert its replacement ammunition to tungsten too, although it still has stockpiles of DU.

DU in widespread use across the world
The US military uses DU mainly for its Abrahams tanks and A10 warplanes, although it is also used in its Bradley fighting vehicles, AV-8B Harrier aircraft, Super Cobra helicopter and its Navy Phalanx system. It is also used by the US military for a variety of other applications including bombshells, tank armour plating, aircraft ballast and anti-personnel mines. Although the US and UK militaries are the only countries who have been properly documented as using DU weapons, they are known to be held by at least seventeen other countries including: Australia, Bahrain, France, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

Testing of DU weapons releases radiation
The testing of DU weapons has caused considerable contamination at test sites across the world. At Dundrennan, in Scotland, for example, a 2004 Ministry of Defence report revealed how, since 1982 over 90 shells had either been misfired or had malfunctioned and scattered fragments of DU across the ground. Despite searches, some of these fragments have never been recovered. Contamination levels were high in these areas, which have had to be fenced off.

US Army Surgeon General – DU causes cancer
Furthermore, a leaked 1993 document from the US Army Surgeon General’s office said, “When soldiers inhale or ingest DU dust they incur a potential increase in cancer risk … that increase can be quantified in terms of projected days of life loss.”

DU IN IRAQ

320 tonnes of DU in 1991 Gulf War
The 1991 Gulf War saw the first verified use of DU weapons. Around 320 tonnes of DU in weapons were used in the war, of which about 1 tonne was used by the UK military. According to data from the US Department of Defense, tens or hundreds of thousands of US military personnel could have been exposed to DU. Both the US and UK Governments refused any responsibility for decontamination and both refused to study the exposure rates or after-effects of this DU use. After a few years, evidence began to emerge from Iraq about the increasing incidence of cancer and birth deformities in the south of the country. After heavy US lobbying in November 2001 the UN General Assembly voted down an Iraqi proposal that the UN study the effects of the DU used there.

OTHER COUNTRIES CONTAMINATED BY DU

BOSNIA 1994-1995

3 tonnes of DU in Bosnia
DU rounds were used in Bosnia by US A-20 warplanes under the auspices of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). Around 10,800 DU rounds, or 3 tonnes, were used in Bosnia. However NATO always denied DU had been used until 2000, 6 years after the attacks, when media reports began to emerge. For all this time no cleanups or public awareness campaigns could be run, leading to unnecessary civilian exposures. The UNEP report,1 mentioned earlier, and released in March 2003, found DU contamination of drinking water and radioactive ‘hotspots’. UNEP recommended ongoing monitoring of drinking water, cleanup of DU sites, cleaning of contaminated buildings and the release by NATO of all DU-attack coordinates.

KOSOVO, YUGOSLAVIA – 1999

US A-10 aircraft fired around 31,300 rounds of DU, or 9 tons of DU in areas of Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro during NATO action there in 1999. Partial information about the use of DU was released a year after the war when UN Secretary General KofiAnnan sent a letter requesting the information to NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson. An analysis in a UNEP Post-Conflict field study of recovered DU shells, published in March 2001, found that some of the shells were made with recycled uranium (that is, with uranium that had been through a nuclear reactor) and were contaminated with plutonium. The study did not find widespread contamination but did find evidence of airborne movement of DU dust.

U-238 10,000x background levels
It also found localised points of concentrated contamination showing U-238 at 10,000 times normal background levels. The study recommended decontamination, removal of penetrators and drinking water monitoring. A separate report published by UNEP on DU contamination in Serbia and Montenegro found “widespread, but low-level DU contamination, airborne DU particles” and that “DU dust was widely dispersed into the environment.”

Leukemia part of the “Balkans syndrome”
As well as official reports there has been widespread anecdotal evidence of so-called ‘Balkans syndrome’ among both soldiers deployed in the region and civilian populations. Symptoms are similar sounding to “Gulf War Syndrome” with heightened levels of leukaemia, respiratory and immune system illnesses.

27 Italian soldiers are thought to have died from DU-related problems
By mid-2004 twenty-seven Italian soldiers have died of symptoms thought to be linked to DU exposure. A court in Rome ordered the Italian Ministry of Defence to compensate the family of Stefano Melone, a soldier who died of a malignant vascular tumour. According to the court, Mr Melone’s death was “due to exposure to radioactive and carcinogen substances” on missions in the Balkans.

AFGHANISTAN 2001- 2004

There is some evidence that DU has been used in Afghanistan, although this has never been confirmed officially. For example, US A-10s and Harrier aircraft, which both use DU ammunition, are known to have been active in the region. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said that the US has found radioactivity indicating DU use by the Taliban or Al-Qaeda.

Spreading ‘democracy’ or spreading radiation from DU?
Surely “spreading democracy” should no longer be allowed to appear in print, between now and 2008, unless accompanied by a parenthetical clarification (“not true,” stated as profanely as local standards allow). And that, of course, would only be the media’s first step back into integrity with the public.

IRAQ

Double and triple cancers in the one patient
“Two strange phenomena have come about in Basra which I have never seen before. The first is double and triple cancers in one patient. For example, leukemia and cancer of the stomach. We had one patient with two cancers — one in his stomach and kidney. Months later, primary cancer was developing in his other kidney — he had three different cancer types.

Cancer clusters in families
The second is the clustering of cancer in families. We have 58 families here with more than one person affected by cancer. . . . My wife has nine members of her family with cancer.”

This is Dr. Jawad Al-Ali, director of the oncology center at the largest hospital in Basra, speaking in 2003 at a peace conference in Japan. Why is it that only peace activists are able to hear people like this? Why hasn’t he been asked to testify before Congress as its members debate the future of this war and the next?

Children more vulnerable to DU than adults
“Children in particular are susceptible to DU poisoning,” he went on. “They have a much higher absorption rate as their blood is being used to build and nourish their bones and they have a lot of soft tissues. Bone cancer and leukemia used to be diseases affecting them the most. However, cancer of the lymph system, which can develop anywhere on the body and has rarely been seen before the age of 12, is now also common.”

Half-life of 5 billion years – the same age as the earth
Depleted uranium — DU — is the Defense Establishment euphemism for U-238, a byproduct of the uranium enrichment process and the ultimate dirty weapon material. It’s almost twice as dense as lead, catches fire when launched and explodes on impact into microscopically fine particles, or “nano-particles,” which are easily inhaled or absorbed through the skin; it’s also radioactive, with a half-life of 4.468 billion years.

300 tons of DU in the first Gulf War
And we make bombs and bullets out of it `¹ it’s the ultimate penetrating weapon. We dropped at least 300 tons of it on Iraq during Gulf War I (the first time it was used in combat) and created Gulf War Syndrome.

1,700 tons in the second Gulf War
This time around, the estimated DU use on defenseless Iraq is 1,700 tons, far more of it in major population centers. Remember shock and awe? We were pounding Baghdad, in those triumphant early days, with low-grade nuclear weapons, raining down cancer, neurological disorders, birth defects and much, much more on the people we claimed to be liberating.

Altering the human genome forever
We weren’t spreading democracy, we were altering the human genome.

DU dust travels around the globe
“We used to think (DU) traveled up to a hundred miles,” Chris Busby told me. Busby, a chemical physicist and member of the British government’s radiation risk committee, as well as the founder of the European Committee of Radiation Risk, has monitored air quality in Great Britain. Based on these findings, “It looks like it goes quite around the planet,” he said.

A death sentence on the Middle East and Central Asia
While Bush mouths ironic whoppers — “We will be standing with the people of Afghanistan and Iraq until their hopes for freedom and liberty are fulfilled,” he told the U.N. General Assembly a while back — his actions pass, in the words of former Livermore Labs scientist Leuren Moret, “a death sentence on the Middle East and Central Asia.”

Planet is becoming uninhabitable
A war crime of unprecedented dimension is unfolding as we avert our eyes. Perhaps it’s simply too big to see, or to grasp, so we lull ourselves into the half-belief that the powers that be know what they’re doing and it will all turn out for the best. Rubble risk

A new report shows many who worked at the site of the attacks later suffered respiratory problems.

Afflictions such as asthma, sinusitis and shortness of breath were recorded amongst many of those involved in the clean-up, according to the report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Many others who worked at the site have said they suffered no adverse symptoms but are filing the lawsuit because they fear they could develop dangerous diseases in the future.

The lawsuit alleges many workers were not given equipment to protect them from toxins in the rubble while others were not taught how to use it properly, the Associated Press news agency reports.

Pulmonary fibrosis can develop as a consequence of a multitude of causes, including radiation therapy and chemotherapy, all of which have common physiologic and pathologic responses in the lung.

Exposure of normal lung tissue to irradiation has two well-recognized adverse effects: pneumonitis and fibrosis (1). Radiation pneumonitis occurs during the acute injury phase, typically within the first 6 months after treatment.

They typically spread throughout the body since they don’t belong to any specific function and multiply without control as no function controls them. If the DU gets into the blood stream and subsequently gets stuck in some of the most sensitive parts of the body, almost anything can thereby become effected. The end result is the development of a large array of biologic failures including diabetes, leukemia, lung cancers, teen age breast cancers, and stomach cancers in boys, and so on. @ all – could anyone comment on the fact that Steven Jones’ assertion that a Fusion weapon could not have been used because it would have left a swathe of radioisotopes (caused by fast neutrons splitting nuclei in target materials plus slowed down neutrons being captured by nuclei) whereas Wikipedia says a pure fusion bomb would not do this?

I think Jones says that a fusion weapon was not used because that would mean a fission trigger had to have been involved and according to him there was no significantly elevated levels of isotopes found in relation to the WTC.

In the article about the medical effects of nuclear radiation, it says that neutrons are released in a nuclear detonation (I presume they are talking about a nuclear detonation where fission is involved) but that their release is so brief that it is difficult to detect the presence of neutrons – it needs to be measured in a certain period, and with instruments that are sensitive to measuring neutrons.

Jones denies there were elevated levels of isotopes found – he ignores the elevated Sr levels for example, he also ignores the dilution factor of the Bathtub being flooded with millions of gallons of water, and how the whole WTC site and everything connected to it was washed free of dust (there were washing stations set up for this purpose).

Measuring the radiation level of the WTC sample with a Geiger counter some four(?) years later is not an accurate way to measure for radiation. Much of it would have decayed by that point and he is measuring just one sample. We don’t know the history of the sample either. And there are findings that contradict his findings: eighty radiation hotspots over NYC area including one over where the rubble from the WTC is stored (I know he says radium was found in high levels in the soil but this could be one of the causes of the radiation spike – he can’t just assume that it is radium solely). And from the high levels of isotopes found at the WTC site, even after massive washing down, there is a good reason to believe that these isotopes are the other causes of the radiation detected at the Fresh Kills landfill site on Staten Island.

I think Jones is an unreliable researcher; he skips over things that he shouldn’t be and too easily dismisses things that he shouldn’t. If he had investigated the nuclear theory at length and showed he had examined all the data carefully, then I wouldn’t call him that, but so far all he has come up with are those one-page statements (some even not that) he has made to people who raise the nuclear question and much of what he says is not correct – e.g. tritium levels were not elevated, according to him.

So it seems that residual radiation is the radiation that is able to be measured after a nuclear event. Residual radiation can be divided into three groups:

1) Fission products – radioisotopes of material used in the fissioning process
2) Unfissioned bomb material
3) Materials that have been made radioactive by neutrons striking them

These can all be found in fallout.

In a pure fusion explosion, you would find mostly number three and little or no 1 and 2.

This report says that radiation (neutron radiation) effects can be reduced by concrete barriers. The WTC buildings were surrounded by tall buildings with much concrete in them so perhaps these barriers reduced the neutron radiation effect from a fission-fusion bomb in 9/11:

I don’t think a pure fusion weapon was used but I think the fission yield was made as low as possible in the fission-fusion bomb which I postulate was used in the WTC towers. If it was a pure fusion reaction, there probably wouldn’t be the same cancer profile that is being seen now (although there would still be radiation-induced cancers seen). There would be much less ionizing radiation present in a pure fusion reaction and therefore less radioactivity overall.

Minimizing neutron activation form the abundant fusion neutrons is a serious problem since many materials inside and outside the bomb can produce hazardous activation products. The best way of avoiding this is too prevent the neutrons from getting far from the secondary. This requires using an efficient clean neutron absorber, i.e. boron-10. Ideally this should be incorporated directly into the fuel or as a lining of the fuel capsule to prevent activation of the tamper. Boron shielding of the bomb case, and the primary may be useful also.

It may be feasible to eliminate the fissile spark plug of a MRR secondary by using a centrally located deuterium-tritium spark plug similar to the way ICF capsules are ignited. Fusion bombs unavoidably produce tritium as a by- product, which can be a nuisance in PNEs.

Despite efforts to minimize radiation releases, PNEs have largely been discredited as a cost-saving civilian technology. Generally speaking, MRR devices still produce excessive radiation levels by civilian standards making their use impractical.

MRRs may have military utility as a tactical weapon, since residual contamination is slight. Such weapons are more costly and have lower performance of course.

This leads to another reason why PNEs have lost their attractiveness – there is no way to make a PNE device unsuitable for weapons use. “Peaceful” use of nuclear explosives inherently provides opportunity to develop weapons technology. As the saying goes, “the only difference between a PNE and a bomb is the tail fins”.

Even with your figures, which do not reflect a real scenario, to achieve 0.3 micron particles we need to deliver over 20 months of power from the Goodyear power plant (operating at peak performance), in the time it takes for the WTC to collapse…

Can you demonstrate that such energies can be achieved, and then also account for the distance and elevation relationship, which is consistant with an expanding horizon of a detonation?

The poster, MMC, from the physorg forum talks about the fallout here. He mentions the ‘clean’ bomb, a thermonuclear weapon in which 96% of the explosive power is derived from the fusion component, and 4% from the fission part. This is an article he quotes from:

According to the second article quoted, fissionless fusion nuclear reactions were successfully performed for the first time in 2005, with laser, so I think we have to rule out a pure fusion bomb being used in the WTC attacks.

Other factors that go against a pure fusion bomb are:

– the presence of fission products at the WTC site (although they could have come 100% from any DU weapon that was used in the towers; or they could have come from both a DU weapon and a thermonuclear one – a DU weapon being used at the towers hasn’t been ruled out).

– the radiation spikes measured in the NYC area (five years after the fact) notably over the park on Staten Island where WTC rubble was stored (and also over the Israeli Embassy – this needs to be confirmed as Hal Turner seems to be the only one reporting this as far as I can tell, although he seems to be a conduit for news given to him by sources (including insiders) when they know the MSM wouldn’t report what they know or have picked up from elsewhere eg. Swedish international hit by a bottle in Israel). These radiation spikes are related to the fission products that would be formed after a fission reaction. Apparently in a pure fusion reaction, radiation that is detectable many years after the reaction took place would be negligible.

– the cancer profile: the bomb that was used was pretty clean but not as clean as a pure fusion bomb; the incidence of cancer and the types of cancer showing up over the past five years indicate there was significant radiation involved in the WTC attacks. The profile fits somewhere between what you would expect from a pure fusion bomb being deployed and what you would expect from a pure fission bomb – somewhere in the ‘middle’ – no alarming rates of people within a certain radius of the WTC buildings dying from radiation sickness within days or a few weeks (a pure fission bomb) but a significantly increased cancer rate among the first-responders all the same – high rate compared to normal plus unusual cancers plus many cancers appearing in relatively ‘young’ people – 30s, 40s.

You would still see an increase in cancers with a pure fusion weapon (as neutrons are released) but I think the cancer rate would be much less than what you would see with fission even if the fission component was small (~4%) and even if the bomb was a low-yield one – in the kton range.

Radiation exposure is not easy to diagnose as a disorder per se. It is mainly picked up by anomalies in blood tests and there are many other causes of blood abnormalities like injuries. Trauma like burns and blunt injuries would have taken precedence in treatment and would have been the focus of attention. And the medicos wouldn’t have been looking for radiation poisoning as nobody suspected nukes were involved then. We don’t know what his future health will be like – will he develop cancer or other radiation-related illnesses. Rodriguez dived under a truck and that could have functioned like a bomb shelter for him plus I don’t think he spent much time at the WTC like others (first responders) did after the bomb went off – he was taken away for treatment. So fractionation of the dose comes into play here. The first responders probably spent more time in the area than he did and received a bigger total dose and their bodies were exposed to the radiation continuously so their cells had no time to recover/repair themselves so all those things might explain why he is alive today and many of the first responders are not. However his health is still precarious – he is disabled and cannot work – and we do not know what his future health will be like.

Israel was ferrying materials illegally through Schiphol Airport where it did not have its cargo physically inspected by customs authorities.

This led to the sarin nerve chemical and possibly uranium/plutonium being released into the environment during the Bijlmermeer plane crash of an El Al plane in 1992, 9 years before 9/11/.

There was radioactive material identified at the crash site, which the authorities attributed to depleted uranium in the plane’s tail.

It was known that the plane was carrying 10 tons of chemicals.

Loewenstein, VP of an American company Nuclear Metals Inc, supplier of DU to Boeing, said that each Boeing 747 contains 1,500 kilograms of DU in the tail acting as counterweights. The danger was the oxidization of the uranium when exposed to high temperatures (melting point of U is 1100 degrees Celsius). Clouds of these microparticles can be inhaled by bystanders. An American physicist Robert L. Parker wrote that temperatures of the fireball in a plane crash can reach 1200 degrees Celsius, high enough to cause oxidation of the uranium. As a consequence, 250,000 people would run health risks as a result of inhaling or swallowing the uranium particles in the worst case scenario involving a Boeing 747 crash.
