http://www.Israel-Times.com – Israel’s HERON TP is the largest drone ever created.

With maximum takeoff weight of 4650 kg, the 14 meter long aircraft can carry over 1,000 kg of sensors in its forward section, main payload bay, and the two bulges located at the end of each tail boom, offering optimal separation for specific systems.

The Heron or Machatz-1 is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle developed by the Malat (UAV) division of Israel Aircraft Industries. It is capable of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) operations of up to 52 hours’ duration at up to 35,000 feet.

Fire at Newark International Airport 1 day before 9/11

Tucked into a flatland from which the New York skyline shone in the distance, Newark International Airport was ringed with new construction. Two days earlier, a fire had started at one of the sites, briefly closing the airport.

Fire Temporarily Closes Newark Airport

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Officials shut down flights at Newark International
Airport for 35 minutes Monday because of a fire at a construction site.

The fire was at the new administration building, which is several miles
from the main terminals. No injuries were immediately reported.

Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New
Jersey, said flights were halted because airport firefighting equipment
was used to put out the blaze.

Major delays were not expected because the fire happened at about 1 p.m.
and midday schedules are generally light, Coleman said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Cormorant UAV (Lockheed) The Cormorant Multi-Purpose Unmanned Airborne System is a unique concept to extend the capabilities of OHIO-Class SSGN submarines, as well as surface combatants such as Littoral Combat Ships. The combination of a stealthy SSGN submarine platform and a survivable unmanned system could introduce revolutionary capabilities to support future joint warfighting operations in high-threat scenarios.

The Cormorant vehicle would be released from the submerged SSGN submarine and be launched using two Tomahawk missile-derived solid rocket boosters. Upon mission completion, the Cormorant returns to a designated retrieval point at sea, initiates engine shut down, and splashes down to await recovery. During recovery, the submerged SSGN deploys a remotely operated vehicle to secure recovery of the vehicle. The SSGN would then haul the Cormorant to its designated launch tube where it would be docked. Operations aboard the SSGN, such as refueling and servicing, would ready the Cormorant for its next mission.
